Twiflex offer the largest range of industrial disc brake calipers in the world. Our engineering experience enables us to specify optimum braking solutions from our comprehensive industrial disc brake product range. Each is selected according to the application requirements and is specified in conjuction with a recommended brake pad material. |

We offer a range of controllers and interfacing devices which allow our disc brakes to be connected to air or hydraulic lines and linked with control systems. Brake calipers come in 'Direct acting' (spring released) and 'Fail to Safe' (spring applied) variations. The majority of direct acting brake calipers are fitted with a retraction device. The fail to safe brakes are retracted by pneumatic or hydraulic pressure or electrically. |

In general, pneumatic brakes are best suited for stopping duties in the low to medium torque range and for tension control applications, whilst the hydraulic brakes meet the high torque requirements. Mechanically applied brakes are appropriate where no power supply is available and for light tensioning duties when precise control is not required. They may also be specified when designers wish to use their own actuating means. |

Spring applied brakes are used where braking must be maintained in the event of supply system failure. Click here to view a graph showing the braking force of each brake in the fail to safe family. Click here to view a graph showing the braking force of each brake in the direct acting family. |
